The first highlight of the seasons finale in European competitions is the final of the Europa League between Sevilla and Benfica. The encounter will be held in Turin, where the citizens of the Italian town are still mourning the defeat of their Juventus against Benfica in the semi-finals, which put to an end their dreams to witness “The Old Lady” lifting the trophy at their home ground. Sevilla found themselves in the final after a dramatic outcome of their tie against Valencia. Los Rojiblancos were 0-2 down during the full 90 minutes, but a goal in the extra time was enough to secure their place in the final. “The Eagles” from Lisbon will try for the eighth time to banish the curse of Bela Guttman when they face Sevilla in Wednesday’s UEFA Europa League final. Two Primeira Liga crowns and two European Cups were won in his stint at the helm, but Guttman left the club after a dispute over his pay and is famously said to have decreed that Benfica would not win a European title for another 100 years.
Benfica, who have lost eight European finals since, were beaten in the European Cup final by PSV on penalties in 1988, though last season’s 2-1 Europa League showpiece loss to Chelsea may have been their most heartbreaking.
Jorge Jesus still have injury concerns with Silvio and Fejsa remaining absent, while Salvio is also suspended after picking up his third yellow card of the competition last time out. André Gomes is back available following a suspension but Enzo Perez and Lazar Markovic will both miss the final having been sent off against Juventus last time out.
Jairo is suspended having picked up a yellow card for what the referee felt were over-exuberant celebrations as a substitute in the second leg against Valencia.
Vitolo is a doubt with a hamstring injury, while Cheryshev and Cristoforo remain sidelined.

Possible lineups:

Sevilla: Beto, Navarro, Pareja, Fazio, Coke, Carrico, Mbia, Vitolo, Rakitic, Reyes, Bacca

Benfica: Oblak, Pereira, Garay, Luisao, Siqueira, Sulejmani, Amorim, Gomes, Gaitan, Rodrigo, Lima

1/8 finals – Betis – 0:2, 3:0

1/4 finals – Porto – 0:1, 4:1

1/2 finals – Valencia – 2:0, 1:3

Benfica :
