Sami Hyypia and his men have almost an impossible task when they travel to France, to face PSG at Parc des Princes. They have to overturn a 4-goal deficit from the first leg, if they are to go through to the next stage of the competition. Bayer Leverkusen go into the fixture in poor form, having won only two of nine games in all competitions since the mid-season break. Meanwhile, Laurent Blanc’s men have an intimidating record on home turf, where the Ligue 1 leaders have suffered only one defeat since November 2012. The last time PSG conceded 4 goals was against Lyon back in February 2012. Despite the huge advantage from the first tie between those clubs, PSG are likely to field strong side, with the opportunity to offer some returning players some minutes in the second half.
Leverkusen’s task has been made harder by an injury to midfielder Jens Hegeler, who tore ankle ligaments in the 1-1 draw with Hannover last Saturday to join Robbie Kruse on their long-term injury list. The visitors will also be without defender Emir Spahic, who is suspended after being sent off in the first leg.
By contrast, Les Rouge-et-Bleu should be able to welcome back Uruguay striker Cavani, who missed Saturday’s 3-0 league success at Bastia to attend to a personal matter in his homeland.
