With over 28 years since the last time Eintracht Braunschweig and Weder Bremen faced each other on Bundesliga match; it is ultimately hard to tell who is better than whom. It was the River Islanders who emerged victorious in that last match with a 2-0 win. After a very long interval, the two will now face each other in the tournaments opener as they strive to earn points which will see them finally compete for the Cup. This unique match will be held on August 11 at the Eintracht-Stadion.
Braunschweig was recently promoted to pay for Bundesliga I and thus it faces a great milestone and is under pressure for a series of more rigorous games than they were used to in Bundesliga II. The Torsten Lieberknecht’s men have proved to be competitive as they have shown impressive results in their previous matches. The Lions have proved fit as they won most of their friendly matches with victory over Rizespor and Wolfsburg. However they suffered a loss as they were beaten by Athletic Club a painful 4-0.
On the other hand, Bremen’s friendlies were not that successful since they recorded successful losses instead of registering landslide wins. The Robin Dutt side saw massive loss in the matches they played and attained only one draw. They emerged losers to teams like RB Leipzig, Ajax, PECZwolle and Osnabruck. Their lucky draw came with 1860 Munchen where they recorded a 1-1 draw. They however cannot be directly recorded as an outright underdog in the Bundesliga I merit. They won 8 matches last season, recording 34 points which were enough to see them at number 14 in the overall First Division tally.
With Braunschweig leaving behind its mediocre performances that saw it relegated in past years, much is expected from it in the upcoming match. Now that it is in top shape as compared to their opposition who are still recording dismal performance, a win is expected for the Braunschweig players.
